Walter



Letnje predvečerje, drugarica i ja šetamo. Put nas nanosi u Strahinjića Bana, ali samo kao prolaznu destinaciju. Prođosmo pored ''Walter''-a i setismo se da smo pričale da moramo tu da svratimo. Kako smo obe bile gladne, zaključismo da se nađosmo na pravom mestu u pravo vreme i sedosmo da proverimo da li će ovaj roštilj odbraniti ugled beogradskog roštilja, kao što je Valter branio Sarajevo.

Inspirisan Valterom, tj. Batom Živojinovićem, enterijer ne može da ne izazove u vama neku setu, jer oko vas se nalaze slike legende našeg glumišta i bilo da ste bili njegov obožavalac ili ne, probudiće se neka emocija u vama. Ambijent je veoma lepo uređen, sa etno motivima i ozbiljnijim delovima, pa tako se sa jedne strane nalaze drveni zidovi, kao i gomila balvana u zidu (izuzetno originalno), a sa druge strane mermerni stubovi i stolovi sa kožnim stolicama, što implicira da ovde možete da osetite pravu domaćinsku atmosferu, kao i da dođete na, npr., poslovni sastanak. Još jedna zanimljiva i više nego originalna stvar je što se u sred restorana nalazi drvo, tačnije par njih (respect za očuvanje prirode). Prvo smo sele unutra i sve lepo osmotrile, ali kad se oslobodilo mesto u bašti prešle smo tamo, jer ipak leti više volim da sam napolju, koliko god da je lepo unutra.

Nego, da pređemo na ono zbog čega smo došle. Sve je ovo što sam opisala lepo, ali šta to vredi dok se ne proba hrana. Nismo mnogo razmišljale i naručile smo pljeskavicu na kajmaku i pola porcije ćevapa (5 ćevapa u lepinji), šopsku salatu i pomfrit. Utisci su i više nego pozitivni - sveže, ukusno meso, lepo servirano i više nego dovoljne porcije, a ljubazni i nasmejani konobari su omogućili da se osećamo još prijatnije. Cene su takođe veoma povoljne, ćevapi koštaju 200 rsd, pljeskavica 260 rsd, pomfrit 120 rsd, a šopska 170 rsd. Moram da napomenem da su nam se malo kasnije pridružili rođaci iz Nemačke čiji su utisci bili podjednako pozitivni, a ujak se u jednom trenutku našalio i otišao da kucne o drvo da vidi da li je pravo. Smeh nije mogao da izostane na taj njegov potez.

Ekipa je manje-više lokalna, svih generacija. Cene su veoma pristupačne, tako da nema razloga da ne posetite ovo mesto, taman možete da se pohvalite da ste za male pare bili na super večeri u Strahinjića Bana. Izgleda da ova ulica više neće biti poznata kao ''Silikonska dolina'', nego Dorćolska dolina sa dobrim roštiljom. Kao što je Valter nekada davno odbranio Sarajevo, tako je i ovaj Walter odbranio ugled srpskog/beogradskog roštilja. Nećete pogrešiti ako dođete i uverite se lično.

Summer dusk, my friend and I are taking a walk. The road leads us to  Strahinjića Bana street, but only as a passing destination. We went past the restaurant '' Walter '' - and then we remembered that we talked about visiting this place. As we were both hungry, we figured that we are at the right place, at the right time, and we took a seat to check whether their bbq will defend the reputation of Belgrade bbq, as Valter defended Sarajevo.

Inspired by Walter, ie. Bata Zivojinovic, the interior evokes melancholy, because you’re surrounded by the photos of the legend of our theater, and whether you've been his fan or not, this will awake some emotions in you, for sure. The ambiance is very nicely decorated with both of ethno motifs and some modern ones, so on one side of the restaurant, there are wooden walls and a a wall with a big pile of logs in it (very original), and on the other side, there are marble columns and tables with leather chairs, which implies that here you can feel homely everyday  atmosphere, as well as to have, for example, a business meeting. Another interesting and original thing- in the middle of the restaurant, there is a tree, more precisely, a couple of them (respect for nature conservation). Firstly, we chose the table inside and took a look at everything, but when we saw a free table in the garden, we moved there, because after all, I prefer to be out during the summer, no matter how nice it is inside.

But, let’s get to the thing we came for. All of this that I described is beautiful, but it doesn’t count until you try the food. It didn’t take us a lot of time to decide, we ordered a burger with kaymak (cream) and half of portion of kebabs (5 kebabs in flatbread), Shopska salad and French fries. The impressions are more than positive - fresh, tasty meat, beautifully served and more than adequate portions, and friendly waiters made us feel even more comfortable. Prices are also very reasonable, kebabs cost 200rsd, burger is 260rsd, French fries are 120rsd, and Shopska salad is 170rsd. I have to mention that our relatives, who live in Germany, joined us later, and their impressions were equally positive, and at one point, for a laugh, the uncle went to knock on a tree(that is in the middle of the restaurant, as I mentioned above), to see if it was real. We all burst into laughter.

The guests are mainly local, of all generations. Prices are very affordable, so there is no reason not to visit this place, later you can boast about having great dinner for a small amount of money, in Strahinjića Bana street. It seems that this street will no longer be known as the 'Silicon Valley', but as a  Dorcol Valley with good bbq. This Walter defended the reputation of Serbian / Belgrade bbq, like Walter defended Sarajevo a long time ago. You will not make a mistake by coming here and seeing it yourself.
