Obe smo bile ste i zadovoljne, a utisci pozitivni.

If the first days of fall are warm and sunny, they sure have a lot of charm, and when you make a deal with a friend to spend Saturday afternoon at the Wine house  "Kovacevic", believe me, you’ll completely enjoy.

The Wine house "Kovacevic" is located in Irig, a quiet town in Vojvodina, and I consider this an ideal location for this place. Peace, a pleasant atmosphere and a carefree feeling are what Vojvodina evokes in me. Exactly like our visit to this place.

The first thing that you’ll be delighted with at the Wine house "Kovacevic" is a very nice yard, with luxurious greenery, neatly mowed grass and interesting details. On a sunny, you can sit in the garden.

Wine house ''Kovacevic''

The interior is equally nice as the exterior, a tastefully decorated restaurant that exudes elegance.

Wine house ''Kovacevic'' - interior

Before we came here, we looked at the menu on their website, but that didn’t help us much making a decision about what to eat. A lot of interesting and enticing dishes and each had something that tempted us. In the end, my friend ordered Turkey breast in almond sauce (850 rsd - 300 gr portion), and I chose Turkey tenderloin medallions in cranberry sauce (850 rsd - 300 gr portion). I particularly liked that, below each dish, there is a written recommendation of a wine that goes well with that dish, the true spirit of a winery. So, led by the recommendation, I chose a wine, well known wine to me, Rosetto Kovacevic 0.15l (280 rsd). My friend, however, wasn’t in the mood for wine that day, so she ordered Estrella beer 0.33l (240 rsd).

Rosetto Kovacevic 0.15l

We joked that that day was our "turkey" day, and that turned out to be a great thing. In addition to the cranberry sauce, sour cream and ajvar, my dish also had some vegetables and seasoned roasted potatoes, and as a true hedonist, I was very happy with my choice. My friend’s dish consisted of sliced almonds, peanut butter, vegetables and seasoned roasted potatoes. We were both satisfied, and the impressions were positive.

On that day, the guests were predominantly middle-aged people with little children, because there was a birthday party. It certainly isn’t rare for a whole family to come here, especially on weekends, so there is a special section for the youngest where they can play. Besides them, there were people of other generations, too, which is quite expected, given that this winery is a big attraction.

Prices are like in every better restaurant in Belgrade, and the staff is polite and helpful.

When you want to spend a weekend(or working day) out of Belgrade, do not hesitate, go to  the Wine house "Kovacevic".

Grand Jezero - Zlatibor

Hleb

_____________________________________________________________________

I decided to spend this weekend with my significant other, on my favorite Serbian mountain - Zlatibor. Besides being rich in natural resources, this mountain is also rich in restaurants. After taking a walk around the lake located in the heart of Zlatibor, we decided to take a break in the restaurant whose terrace is located exactly on that lake. And given the location of the restaurant, I assume that most of you can already guess that we chose one of the most famous Zlatibor restaurants - Grand Jezero.
Grand Jezero
Even though the terrace was crowded with people, somehow we managed to find our place in the Sun. The view of the lake is one of the primary reasons why the majority of people decides to have lunch here. And if you are lucky enough to find a table which is placed right next to the water, then you hit the bull's-eye. Here, there is no rule regarding the age limit. The restaurant was full of tourists (both domestic and foreign), as well as the locals of Zlatibor and its surroundings.

The menu of the restaurant is diverse, but with the emphasis on national cuisine, so besides the usual dishes and specialties of Serbian cuisine, here you can order pastas and pizzas, too. However, we decided to follow Zlatibor’s tradition to the fullest, so, as an aperitif, we ordered rakia( Serbian fruit brandy)- Honey brandy (200 rsd) and Apricot brandy (200 rsd). I have to admit that I’m neither a big fan nor an expert of this alcoholic beverage, but after tasting this brandy I ordered another one, so I think you get the point.
Honey brandy
After the aperitif, we ordered Veal soup (190 rsd). In this restaurant, you can determine whether you want a smaller or larger portion, almost of every meal, so, as I would say, even the soup comes in two sizes. We ordered a smaller portion which was more than enough, and as for its taste, it was great. And they don’t skimp on the veal at all!

Veal soup
For the main courses, we ordered Burger in kaymak with French fries (420 rsd), Podvarak( sauerkraut) with meat (550 rsd) and  Pork ribs (780 rsd). As for the salad, as in most cases, we chose Shopska salad (280 rsd).

Burger in kaymak with French fries
The burger was juicy, and that juiciness was due to the traditional homemade Zlatibor kaymak. Finger licking good! Again I had the option of choosing between smaller and larger portion, and I decided for small (and I could barely finish it), and you can also choose between French fries and homemade potatoes as a side dish. You can see on the photo that I chose the first option.

Podvarak( sauerkraut) with meat
The cooked meal we decided to try was podvarak. Here you have the option of choosing the meat in the dish, so you can decide between a burger and chicken breast. This time, we were more in the "burger" mood. Anyway, forget the burger, I have to say that this was the best podvarak I ever ate (sorry, Mom, but it’s the truth!)! The portion was huge, so we both could enjoy it.

Pork ribs
As for the pork ribs, they were served with podvarak and homemade potatoes (which was evenly tasty as the rest of the food). However, I must admit that we were a bit confused by the served ribs. The menu says that they come with the bone, but we got the boneless version. It's not that I regret that there were no bones on the plate, I was simply expecting a slightly different concept of this meat dish. Either way, they were delicious, no matter how they were served.
Shopska salad
What I especially liked was the way bread is served. In this restaurant, you’ll get a hot loaf of bread (40 rsd) on a wooden board, straight from the oven, you get a bread knife, too, so with the sound of a knife cutting thick bread crust with crumbs falling onto plate, the scent of fresh and warm pastry spreads around, and you’ll get the impression of being somewhere in the countryside.
Bread
Despite the huge number of guests, the staff of this restaurant was helpful and kind, and this in particular contributes to the overall impression. As for the prices of meals in the restaurant, I can say that they are even lower, if we compare them with the prices at the Belgrade restaurants. We enjoyed with all our senses, and if the road takes you to Zlatibor, take a walk around the lake, and when you get tired and intoxicated with the fresh mountain air, take a rest in this restaurant and enjoy the authentic tastes of Serbia.

Riblja čorba i kuver

Ćevapi

Atmosfera u Sidru je veoma prijatna, opuštajuća, uz zvuke Garavog sokaka, a posle toga zasvirali su tamburaši i imali smo potpun vojvođanski ugođaj. Gosti su ljudi svih generacija, konobari ljubazni, a cene pristupačne.

I can freely say that every weekend is a holy thing for me, that’s the time when the only thing I want is to relax and enjoy, after a hard working week. When my friend invited me to visit her holiday home in Čortanovci, on Saturday, I couldn’t feel any better because Vojvodina is an oasis of peace and enjoyment for me. Immediately, she told me that we’ll also visit the restaurant Sidro, which is located in Beška, because they serve the best fish soup she has ever eaten. I couldn’t wait for Saturday to arrive.

The restaurant Sidro is located beneath the Beška bridge, so you have a view of both the Danube and the bridge. The interior style resembles a fisherman’s hut, with wooden tables and chairs and fishing nets around you, so no wonder they emphasis their fish specialties they’re famous for.

Sidro

Sidro - interior

You can guess that we immediately ordered Fish soup (219 rsd per portion). As we waited for it, we were considering whether to order anything else at all, because we weren’t much hungry. Then we definitely confirmed that phrase that one's eyes are bigger than one's stomach, so we ordered a portion of 10 kebabs (590 rsd), which we shared. Before the fish soup they served us Cover charge which consists of Fish pates and onions (59 rsd per portion), and Bread (98 rsd per portion) that was very tasty, it whetted my appetite for so much expected fish soup. Shortly after, the fish soup arrived, and the only expression on my face was the expression of satisfaction. I can freely say that four people could split these  two portions that we ordered. The fish was delicious and fresh, spicy, well seasoned and it was a shame that I couldn’t finish it, but I had to leave some space for kebabs as well. Kebabs, which are served with French fries, were also good, but when you try such a good soup, everything else is left in the shade. Along with kebabs we had Shopska salad   (250 rsd). I can only confirm that my friend was right, this was the best fish soup I tried so far. Since it was a hot day, we sipped some bottled Rosa water 0.75l (180 rsd), and after we had Coca Cola (149 rsd).

Fish soup and Cover charge

Kebabs

The atmosphere in Sidro is very pleasant, relaxing, with the sounds of Garavi sokak band, and after that the tambourine players were performing, so we had a complete Vojvodina experience. Guests are people of all generations, the waiters are kind and the prices are affordable. And if the road takes you there, make sure to stop by, even just for the fish soup, and share your impressions with us after.

Stara trešnja

Dođe i taj septembar.

Here comes September. For me, this is the month when all the summer magic stops, like when the clock strikes midnight in Cinderella. And that's why I decided to make the best of the remaining summer days! I decided to do it in the spirit of Serbian tradition, at the restaurant "Stara trešnja".

Stara trešnja
The Stara trešnja is a restaurant of Serbian cuisine with a long tradition. It is tucked away in Banovo brdo and I must say that I feel unhappy about the restaurant not beign somewhere closer to my neighborhood, so that is one of the reasons why I don’t come here more often for lunch. There is no way you’ll miss the restaurant’s high stone fence. I prefer to come here during summer because of the beautiful garden with thick shade. An ideal place to enjoy and escape high temperatures. Interior exudes the old spirit of Serbian tradition.

Stara trešnja - garden

Stara trešnja - interior
The menu is strictly national. If you are a fan of local cuisine, you are in the right place. And what's fascinating about this restaurant are extremely low prices for extremely huge portions. This time, we decided to start our lunch with Veal ragout soup which costs (I know you will find it hard to believe) 100 rsd. For the main course we chose Serbian style burger with kaymak, Portion of kebabs and Pork tenderloin. Grilled dishes prices range from 400 to 500 rsd. And trust me, the portions in the photos seem smaller than they are in person. Absolutely everything we ordered was delicious and well-prepared. Of course, even the presentation of food is strictly traditional, so don’t expect to see the plate without the famous carrots and fresh cucumber garnish.

The atmosphere in this restaurant is homely. The guests are casual people, of all generations and you can definitely feel that people came here to enjoy and eat well, and not just to take photos for Instagram. The staff is smiling and cheerful, unobtrusive but again available whenever you need something. And that’s what I call - good service!

And as far as for our farewell to the summer, we completed the mission with dignity as it fits! And if you are very hungry, a traditionalist or feeling nostalgic for some better times when everything was calmer and stress free – hit the road and go to the Stara Trešnja, then you’ll understand what I’m talking about!
